Seekers of Truth

Purpose

Bereans Speech and Debate Club is a new club that follows the national organization of Stoa Speech and Debate. The goal of the club is to teach students to be seekers of truth. Our purpose is to glorify Gob by learning to speak well and defend the faith and truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We agree with the mission and vision of Stoa to “equip homeschool students, through competitive speech and debate, to think critically, engage graciously, and speak boldly from a Biblical worldview until generations of faithful and compelling communicators make Jesus Christ known in every sphere.”

Classes
We will be having both speech and debate classes open to homeschool students from 9-18 years of age. Students will be taught public speaking in several different formats, critical thinking skills, research strategies, and how to see both sides of an issue in a fun environment. Junior Varsity debate will be Team Policy style which is a two person team debating a federal policy and Varsity will be Lincoln Douglas which is a single student debating in a more philosophy and logic style.
