Scarlet

The purpose of our club is to strengthen our students’ speaking skills in a way that honors
Christ. During our time together, we offer opportunities to learn and practice different
types of speeches including Apologetics, as well as Lincoln Douglas and Parliamentary
debate styles. In addition to our weekly meetings, we participate in Stoa speech and
debate league competitions (please see www.stoausa.org).

The benefits of speech and debate are many! While students sharpen their communication
and critical thinking skills, they also grow in character within a supportive Christian
community. As a parent-led club, our Scarlet parents have the privilege of learning
alongside our students and offering them valuable feedback and encouragement. We love
the amazing sense of community that develops due to having a parent-led structure where
parents attend each club meeting with their students.
