Scarlet Speech and Debate is open to Christian homeschool students with a desire to sharpen their communication skills. Our club is beginner friendly!
We would love to have you join us at Scarlet on Friday afternoons! Scarlet Speech and Debate is open to Christian homeschool students ages 12 to 18 who are privately home educated*.
The purpose of our club is to strengthen our students’ speaking skills in a way that honors Christ. We earnestly strive to live out Colossians 4:6: "Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person."
During our time on Fridays, we offer opportunities to learn and practice different types of speeches including Apologetics, as well as Lincoln Douglas and Parliamentary debate styles. In addition to our meetings (we meet 20 times during the school year), we participate in Stoa speech and debate league competitions.
The benefits of speech and debate are many! While students sharpen their communication and critical thinking skills, they also grow in character within a supportive Christian community. As a parent-led club, our Scarlet parents have the privilege of learning alongside our students and offering them valuable feedback and encouragement. We also enjoy having our alumni visit to pour back into the students and families.

* Please note: Our entire homeschool speech and debate league, Stoa, is made up of privately homeschooled students and does not allow charter school student participation. Therefore, we can only accept students who are privately homeschooling based on Stoa's eligibility policy.
