Voyagers is an online speech and debate club serving the Stoa community throughout the nation. Voyagers came about when the founders of the Helmsmen Institute had an exciting vision for a club which we felt called to share with the Stoa community. With a team of outstanding and successful alumni and parent coaches, we launched our club in Southern California in 2019. In subsequent years, we became a hybrid team (both in-person and online), and eventually became fully online. We offer coaching for Lincoln Douglas, Team Policy and Parliamentary Debate, and for all Stoa speech events, for beginning, intermediate, advanced and Juniors students competing in Stoa. We offer mentoring and support for students and parents according to Galatians 6:2. We focus on faith, truth and virtue (Philippians 4:8; Colossians 3:2). We place an emphasis on deep learning, understanding, logic, reasoning and critical thinking (Titus 1:9). At our meetings, students engage in well-managed, lively, engaging sessions, and guided activities (Deuteronomy 6:7). Our coaches, who together have decades of experience in coaching, teaching and competing in Stoa, are dedicated Christian servant leaders, who are delighted to be able to bring their coaching and teaching philosophy and style to Voyagers.
