This is an official Stoa qualifying tournament hosted by Elevate Speech and Debate Club.
NOTE: Stoa Eligibility and Membership are required in order to participate, please review here, https://www.stoausa.org/membership
EACH registered family needs to have a judge registered. Parents or guardians, are expected to judge every other round. Students are required to check-in at the tournament with their parent or guardian.
For Registration - Click on "Family Registration" tab to begin registration. A minimum of one judge must be registered to complete registration. A team is not registered until both debate partners are registered.
Stoa Membership - is required for tournament participation (Affiliate Number, assigned with Stoa membership and located in Stoa registration email, is now required for tournament registration). Competitors must be ages 12 to 18 as of October 1st of the current season, must be privately home-educated, and parent members must agree with the Stoa statement of faith, https://www.stoausa.org/membership
Meals - Refreshments are provided for judges in the judge's lounge. There are several fast food locations in the area, but please plan accordingly in order to meet judging requirements. Pre-ordered meals will be available for families.
Parent Attendance - This is not a drop-off event for any student. You are expected to remain at the event with your student. If you are unable to do so, you need to arrange for another adult to stay with them. To keep the tournament running on time, all parents/guardians need to be on-deck to judge a minimum of 3 rounds. It is our hope and prayer that you will not judge every round. This is all possible with parent attendance.
Dress Code - Guidelines are as stated on the Stoa site, https://www.stoausa.org/about-nitoc
Wait List - Please add yourself to the waitlist. Rooms are limited but we will do our best to add everyone.
Community/Alumni Judges - Like always, we welcome as many community and alumni judges who are available. The students will need all the feedback they can receive to improve their debate skills. Click here for flyers to share
