Parents
You will need to check in at the same time as your student. After confirming that both competitor and parent judge are present, the student will be able to compete.
Only students with at least one of their own parents physically present and available to help and/or judge the entire tournament will be allowed to compete!
We are blessed by the support of many community judges but you are the lifeblood of our tournament. Your presence on campus and willingness to take ballots are essential. Check with Ballot Push 45 minutes before rounds to see if you are needed to take a ballot.
Please plan on judging every other round. If we continue to be blessed with community judges, ballot push will let you know each round whether or not you are needed.
Even though you will select specific rounds on your registration, please be flexible at the tournament. We want to prioritize community judges that have taken time out of their day to judge our students!
Greatest Need
Our greatest need is often the first and last rounds of the day along with ALL SPEECH rounds. Please do your best to be at the ballot table early so that all ballots can be pushed AND we can start the round on time.
Requirements for Competitors
All Students must be registered members of Stoa.
Students must register a parent or other adult to judge at the tournament.
Each Parli competitor is required to have a judge for at least two (2) parli rounds, including round 6.
Each Team Policy or Lincoln Douglas competitor is required to provide a judge for at least three (3) rounds, including round 6.
Students must have an adult chaperone who is 21 years or older.
During competition, students must dress in professional business attire.
Gentlemen:
Suits or slacks and a sports coat, with a shirt and tie, and dress shoes.
Ladies:
Skirt or pant suits; slacks, skirts or dresses with jackets, and professional dress shoes. Hemlines are to be at least to the knee. Nylons are not required.
Awards Ceremony:
Students must attend the awards ceremony in full competition attire.
Violations:
If the competitor’s attire at any time during the tournament is deemed a violation of the dress code, the competitor will be asked to come into compliance with the dress code. A student will not be allowed to participate in competition or awards without compliance.
There are several Airbnb options near the church. This is probably the best option.
This is close to the tournament.

If you are willing to stay closer to downtown it will be about a 20 minute commute, but the hotel options and rates are better.
We are so pleased that you will support our student competitors by judging speech & debate events. Your willingness to volunteer your time and sound judgment will have an impact that can not be underestimated. Thank You!
