WHO needs to submit scripts? Competitors who are entered in all Interpretive, Platform, and Wild Card speeches.
INTERPRETIVE SPEECHES: Dramatic, Duo, Humorous, Open
PLATFORM SPEECHES: Expository, Original Oratory, Persuasive
WILD CARD SPEECH: Slam Poetry
Script Submission Opens: Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 10am (MST)
Script Submission Closes: Thursday, April 17, 2025, 9pm (MST)
Approval Deadline: All scripts MUST be approved on or before Monday, April 21, 2025, 7:00pm (MST) in order to be eligible for competition in that event.
ALL scripts MUST be submitted electronically by the above closure date AND approved on or before the approval deadline. NO LATE SCRIPTS WILL BE ACCEPTED. Scripts not in compliance by the approval deadline will be dropped from that event with no refund.
Our reviewers communicate via email, so it is imperative that you check your email frequently once you have submitted. You will only have 24 hours to make your necessary corrections and resubmit your script for approval. Please be respectful of this timeframe and prompt in working with your reviewer.
HOW can I be make sure my speeches are submitted correctly? Follow all of the guidelines below, using the HELPS provided, and you will be on your way to a speedy approval!
WATCH this TUTORIAL, YES, even if you've watched it in the past. Knowing EXACTLY what to do simplifies the review/approval process for your reviewer and you!

Submission Rules & Forms - 2024-2025
Prepare your script and submission form WITH your parent or coach. Include ALL initials and ALL signatures. Submission forms MUST have the current tournament listed!
COMBINE each speech into a SINGLE file in PDF format only. You may scan into single file or use a file joiner. We recommend the App, Genius Scan, for scanning from your phone and the file joiner, ADOLIX, which is a free download to your computer.
REMINDER: Please title your file correctly, using the instructions given on the TUTORIAL.
When you have completed all of the above, you may submit your script(s) HERE (link will be active on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, 10:00am MST).

Location: Canon Community Baptist Church & Christian Family Fellowship at 1111/1110 Monroe Ave in Canon City, CO 81212
Ballot Party: Christian Family Fellowship Gym at 1110 Monroe Ave, Canon City, CO 81212 (Ice Cream to be served)
Here Ye, Here Ye; sWord Challenge has the tradition of a Medieval theme. Staff, Judges, and Parents can optionally choose to dress as Lords and Ladies to correspond with the theme. Students are expected to dress in standard tournament attire.
Events: All forms of STOA Speech and Debate
Registration Opens: March 24th at 8:00 am
Registration Closes: April 5th at 8:00 pm
Meals: Lunch and dinner will be available for community judges and available for purchase by students and parents
Script Submission Opens: April 8th at 10:00 am
Script Submission Closes: April 17th at 11:00 pm
FEES:
Family Registration Fee - $15
Team Policy - $40 per debater
Lincoln Douglas - $40 per debater
Parliamentary - $40 per debater
Speech - $40 for first 3 events - $15 for each additional event - limit of 6
Late Fees
Accounts not fully paid upon registration close date will incur a late fee of $20 and will be moved to the waitlist
No refunds after registration closes
Partner events are considered registered when BOTH PARTNERS are registered and fully paid
Drop fee of $20 for each event dropped after registration closes

This is a STOA NITOC Modeled Tournament
All competitors must be chaperoned. If a parent will not be on site, a signed medical release form must be provided for the chaperone and they must be willing to fill the judging requirement for the student. No un-chaperoned competitors allowed.
