Welcome to the Tucson Tangle Tournament!
This is a qualifying Stoa Tournament hosted by Sonoran Desert Speech & Debate with the support of Mars Hill Speech and Debate.
All participants must be members of Stoa.
Dates: December 12 & 13, 2025 (Friday and Saturday)
Location: El Camino Church 7777 E Speedway Drive, Tucson, AZ 85718
Debate Events Offered
Lincoln Douglas, Parliamentary
- LD will have 6 preliminary rounds.
- Parli will have 4 prelim rounds, semi finals, and finals.
- Parli Competitors can use the internet, print resources and outside assitance.
Speech Events Offered
Stoa Qualified Events: Apologetics, Extemporaneous, Impromptu, Mars Hill, Original Oratory, Slam Poetry
Novice Speech: Novice Apologetics, Novice Impromptu
Juniors Tournament: Apologetics, Story Telling
- No script submission
- Competitors may select a maximum of 3 speech events.
- Novice events are for Stoa competitors in their first year.
- Juniors events are for competitiors age 8-11 as of October 1, 2025
Registration
If events fill up during registration, please sign up for the wait list. If you have a completed registration you will be given priority for all available event slots as they open up.
Opens: Wednesday, October 29 8:00 AM MST (Arizona Time)
Closes: Saturday, November 15 11:59 PM MST (Arizona Time)
Meal Registration Closes: Wednesday, December 3 2:00 PM MST (Arizona Time)
Fees:
- Registration Fee: $20 per family
- Debate Events (LD, Parli) - $15 per competitor
- Speech Events - $30 per competitior for 1-3 speech events (maximum of 3)
- Junior Speech Events - $20 per competitor for 1-2 speech events (maximum of 2)
Refunds & Drop Fees:
- Full refunds available until registration closes.
- A $20 drop fee will be charged for events dropped after registration closes.
- A $20 late fee will be applied to each registration that is not paid in full when registration closes.
Judging Requirements
Each registered competitor must have at least one parent on campus with them and available to judge for the entire day.
