About Stoa
Stoa is a Christian homeschool speech and debate forensics league that seeks to develop world class communicators who speak boldly and change the world for Christ.
About Our Host
Response Homeschool Speech and Debate is a Stoa affiliate club and the official host of the Ultimate Response Speech Tournament. Through the art of public speaking, our club aims to Form Articulate Critical Thinkers (F.A.C.T.) for Christ who, in all situations, are able to respond to life’s challenges with grace and the truth of His glory. (Micah 6:8; Psalms 145:10 to 12)
About the Tournament
Ultimate Response is a 1-Day speech only tournament, designed to give students the opportunity to present, perform, and communicate truth with clarity, conviction, and purpose. Our student competitors, parents, coaches, and tournament staff are deeply grateful for your willingness to serve as a judge.
What Judges Can Expect
As a judge, you will be provided with:
- Training and orientation before your round.
- Please arrive at least 60 minutes before your scheduled round for training.
- Clear ballots and instructions for evaluation
- Refreshments during tournament hours
In your role, you will listen to and evaluate student speakers across a variety of speech events.
Judge Qualifications
- Must be 18 years or older and have graduated from high school
- No prior judging experience is required.
- Communitty Judges will attend training the day of the tournament.
Alumni Judges
We are grateful for your continued involvement and support.
- If you haven't judge this season, then you must attend judge orientation. Rules and expectations may have changed
- You may not judge a competitor you competed against during the previous season

If a student invited you to judge, feel free to include their name in the "Recruited By" box. This ensures students receive credit for judge recruitment.

When selecting your time slots, we recommend avoiding back to back rounds. Each speech round typically lasts about 2 1/2 hours, and allowing time between rounds helps with completing ballots and transitioning smoothly.
- Conformation: Once you register, you will receive a confirmation email with your selected judging times. Prior to the tournament, please keep an eye out for a reminder email that will include a summary of your registered judging times and important event details.
On Tournament Day
- Please arrive at least 60 minutes before your scheduled round for training.
- Follow posted signs to the Community Judge Check In table
- You will be directed to your orientation room
