Parliamentary Debate
Rules
We recommend that each team carry a copy of the 2026–2027 Stoa Parli Rules.
Please also be familiar with the Stoa Evidence Philosophy and Standards.
Resolution Announcement
Please be in the Parli announcement room, the Student Room, at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start of each round.
We will be striking resolutions. Three resolutions will be read. The Government team has up to 1 minute to strike one, and then the Opposition team has up to 30 seconds to strike one. The remaining resolution is the resolution for the round.
Please note: To keep the tournament running on time, strikes will begin as soon as at least one member of each team is present. Please arrive early so your full team can take part.
Timing
Parli debate is self-timed, so please bring a working timepiece with an audible countdown alarm.
🔔 We look forward to great rounds of debate in the New Year!
